New Year Resolutions Challenge- 3.1.11

This morning during my prayer time I prayed for myself.  After sitting in quietness for a couple of minutes I asked God what I should be praying for. Then two very different songs appeared in my head and I used them as my prayer.

The first song is by a band called Hoobastank, I don’t really know much about this band. If you want to know more about them then check my friend’s blog (Sam's Bible Blog).  The song is called The Reason.

I'm not a perfect person
There's many things I wish I didn't do
But I continue learning
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is you.

The second song is one that is sung at my church The Salvation Army. The words of the song are.

I must take time for reflecting

On the way I live each day,

See the things that needs rejecting,

See the aspects that can stay.

For my life is very complex,

I fall short in many ways:

But reflection and renewal

Give me scope to reappraise.

I will take time for renewal,

Read your word and let it guide,

As it shows me very clearly

Areas I try to hide!

But with honest recognition

That my lifestyle could reflect

More that’s godly: show me clearly

Areas that I neglect

My commitment is considered,

Based on faith of head and heart,

Not just learning, not just feeling,

But on truth that you impart.

So I make my promise, knowing

In your time you can perfect

All that isn’t quite like you, Lord,

Till your likeness I reflect.
